The game is not licensed by the Star Trek franchise, it is a title being developed by an independent developer as an hobby. Supremacy picks up from the classic Microprose title Star Trek Birth of the Federation, a.k.a. Star Trek: BOTF. Supremacy’s intention is to be a BOTF’s rightful successor. FreeOrion is an open-source project which goal is to build a turn based 4x space strategy game. The entire project is community-centered were people that share the common motivation are invited to contribute to build the game in many ways, some as programmers, others as conceptual designers, others as opinion makers.
