The story goes that the company run out of budget during game development and to be able to finish the game they had no choice than to release it in 21st of August 2010 to be able to do some cash in. This time Sid turns to Facebook. The official title is Civilization World (aka Civ World). Sid says that in Civ World you will be joining your friends to form nations, which will compete with other player’s nations to rule the world. Sid also announced that they are going to launch the closed Alpha test of the game in January 12th 2011 and invites everybody to sign up at 2K Civ World alpha website to become part of the development testing. |

The reasons for his departure were not made public and so the Civ5 fanbase discussed (speculated) intensely in the CivFanatics’s site forums which could have been the reasons for his departure.
