Interstellar Space: Genesis is a new turn-based space 4X strategy game currently under development by SpaceSector.com and Praxis Games. The game is currently at Pre-Alpha and pre-orders with instant access are open! Feel welcome to open threads and discuss any topic you’d like in the game forums.
We’re making the most complete and comprehensive Turn Based Space 4X ever developed. We mean it, we believe we can achieve that in a reasonable time-frame, and we count with your support to make it happen! So, please tell your friends about ISG, people who loved Master of Orion but also space 4X games or strategy games in general. We're not there yet and we'll be needing all the support we can get in the meantime. Thanks!

Please tell me you’re implementing object pools. Alpha 10 is unplayable beyond turn 340 on huge map (to get that far you have to reload the game every 8 -10 turns, where it will freeze up, requiring forced shutdown). Remember, you cannot explicitly destroy objects in Unity. The only way you can manage the bloat in Unity memory usage is by object pools reusing memory no longer needed.
Thanks for your precious feedback Khan. I’m not aware that anyone had played the game on Huge for so many turns as you, so we’ll make sure to have a close look at those performance issues in bigger and lengthier games.
We are aware that object pooling will probably be necessary everywhere due to how Unity manages objects. We already do it in some places just not everywhere yet because the game seems to run good in Medium and Large games with about 200-250 turns.
Thanks again for your comment. We took note of this and we’ll make sure to address it during the optimization phase.
\Edit: By the way, could you please send us a save of that game so we can have a look? The saves are in: Drive:\Users\\AppData\LocalLow\Praxis Games\ISG Please zip it and send it to us to our email. Or, please attach it to your post in the forums or in a new post there. Also, could you please let us know ho much RAM do you have? Thanks a lot!
