Hello everyone,
we've been hard at work at bringing new features and improving the game in significant ways. Pre-Alpha 10 is in progress, and with it a lot of new shiny things will be brought to the table, which I'm sure you'll find will be worth the wait!
The ground combat and bombardment mechanics presented in the last dev diary will be in. Star bases will also be added, which can be upgraded both in the economic and military sense. Also, a variety of planetary defenses along with the star bases will enhance the defensive side of the game further. What this means is that new strategies will be required to assault and invade colonies in Pre-Alpha 10, which will provide more meaningful choices and require you to plan things out a little bit more.
Along with ground combat, bombardment, planetary defenses and star bases, Pre-Alpha 10 will also introduce ship refit, so you can upgrade existing ships in order to preserve their accumulated crew experience, which will be another important and decisive factor in helping turn the tide in space battles.
We're also updating the space combat effects and adding additional weapons and special systems. Additionally, we're improving the combat performance in order to provide a smoother experience to the player.
We're also adding new ship models (as you can see a sample of in the image above!) which will replace the place-holders currently included in Pre-Alpha 9. Also, the races will get their first face-lift and have an entirely new look in PA 10. This will be close to final as the goal is to animate these images prior to final release.
We don't have an ETA on the new build. This will be a big one, and most of the work is already done. However, we want to take our time to get it right. We'll keep you informed of our progress. Pre-Alpha 10 means that we're nearing our first true Alpha release which will happen once all the major systems are in place.
Thanks to all who have pre-ordered the game so far. If you haven't already, and want to play the current build and support us, please pre-order here. Thanks also to all who have provided feedback!

Thanks a lot!

Interstellar Space: Genesis (formerly Project Space Sector) is a spiritual successor to Master of Orion 2, the turn-based space 4X strategy game from the 90's that we love so much. This will be a faithful successor, that is true in spirit to the series. A game for everyone who wants to have that “feeling” of Master of Orion 2, but also wants to experience something new and fresh, with all the complexity and depth of a big and complex 4X game. You can join the discussions here. Pre-Orders with instant access are available here. Thanks for your support!
We are Praxis Games, a young development studio devoted to making great strategy games with deep and complex gameplay for a diverse set of settings and themes. We strongly believe in good and solid gameplay first, community-driven development, product quality, transparency and extensive client support to keep our clients as satisfied as possible, so that we can keep making great games for them for a long time to come!
Regarding SpaceSector.com, we're currently not providing coverage to other space and sci-fi strategy games since we're currently developing our own game at the moment. In the meantime, we suggest that you look for other sites that have been doing, and are doing a great job covering space & sci-fi strategy games, and 4X games, like eXplorminate.net, SpaceGameJunkie.com and SpaceSimCentral.com for your news and reviews fix. You’ll be in good hands with these folks.
