There’s gaming deals basically everywhere at the moment. The occasion is the celebration of Autumn, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Holidays start, you name it.
So, I had a look at what GameStop has to offer at the moment on the realm of space-based, science fiction themed and great strategy games. Note that in most cases you’ll be given a Steam key at the end of your purchase, so, it would be exactly the same as if you were buying from there.
I couldn’t find when this sale will end but I suspect it will be up during the entire weekend, perhaps until Monday or Tuesday of next week. But, I’m not sure.
Here’s what I could dig up. The deals are separated by category. Look for our reviews. Our picks are at the top.

Don’t know which is cheaper but Crusader Kings 2 collection (vanilla plus expansions and DLC up to before old gods) costs $19 and Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes cost $9 from humblebundle store.
Also if anyone is interested, Mount and Blade Warband cost $4.99 on the humblestore. Its also good to keep an eye on Steam’s daily and flash sales as games might be a whole lot cheaper.
There are some Space Strategy games on Sale at Steam too! Just to name a few, Gemini Wars, Armada 2526 Gold, and Space Empires 4 & 5 bundle all 75% off.
I’m very interested in the Space Empires bundle. It’s been one of those games where I’ve always heard about it, but was always hesitant to buy because of mixed reviews. It’s only $5.00 and surely can’t go wrong, but I’m looking for some opinions from others who have played this.
Also looking at Gemini wars, but also heard mixed reviews, and curious if anyone has played it recently can give some input
I love Space Empires IV and V. Especially IV. V doesn’t run very well on modern hardware/operating systems. IV runs fine for most people but you have to either change the resolution on your monitor manually or play it in a smallish window.
Space Empires IV/V… I’ve played those. I kinda like their approach – there aren’t many 4X games that will not only let you blow up planets, but construct ringworlds and even dyson spheres – but unfortunately, the mixed reviews are (IMO) just. The AI and victory conditions have always been lackluster and I’m not really fond of the economic model, either.
Luckily, some mods are available to help spice both games up. The version of SEIV I got back in the day even came with some mods prepackaged, so I knew what to look for.
If you don’t go in expecting something as polished as GalCiv 2 or even Endless Space, you’ll be okay. Like you said, the price is right. Any real 4X fan ought to be able to squeeze at least $5 of fun out of these games.
I was unable to get into the “Space Empires” games, although I’m not sure why, they would seem to have almost everything I want in a 4x.
Maybe it was the crappy space lanes? although by itself they are not usually enough to totally dissuade me from enjoying a game. No, I’m not sure why but they just didn’t click with me.
