Legends of Pegasus, the space 4X game developed by Novacore Studios has been pushed back to the 31st of July 2012. Kalypso Media has initially targeted the game’s release for May 29th 2012, but now has updated the release date 2 months ahead to the 31st of July. Pre-orders are open at Amazon, for quite some time now by the way.
Legends of Pegasus is a very promising turn-based space 4X title, featuring three alien factions that are allegedly quite distinct, an extensive story-driven campaign (a novelty in 4X games) and highly modular ship design. For more information you can check out our interview with Novacore Studios. You also have a bunch of screenshots here.

All negatives have a positives, more time for them to fine tune things. I am looking forward to LOP the most of all the games I’ve seen, mostly due to the interview here on spacesector :-)
;) Yea, it’s probably more time needed for fine tuning or a marketing wait.
There goes my birthday present! XD
I’m hoping between this and ES we end up with one good four x. This does seem to suffer from ‘use tiny fonts and have lots of crap on each screen’ more than ES. We shall see.
I’m pretty confident on Endless Space. StarDrive looked nice at alpha. LoP don’t know yet first hand. I’m very curious though.
Honestly, I didn’t think the game was coming out til this summer anyway, so no biggie as far as I’m concerned.
I’m guessing the release date was pushed back because more beta-testing and/or polishing was needed, which is just by me. We don’t want another 4x title released in a state similar to SOTS2!
We certainly don’t. It will be hard to forget SotS2’s release. Maybe SotS2 completion will help heal that sentiment however. There are talks that the game is approaching final state. Less than 1 month from now as I understand. Let’s hope that the game comes out good, it truly has the potential to be great in my opinion. We need a good SotS2. It was clearly an alpha release :(
I’ve heard less than 1 month from now for quite a few months regarding Sots II being “complete”. The sad truth is now that we are nearly half way through 2012, I hardly care anymore. I own the game and pre-ordered at release, but I have less hours spent in it than I do in Endless Space and ES (alpha) only just released. When you pull away all the bugs and missing features, I felt like a lot of the design decisions they made were still just poor.
Endless Space has a really solid core and the developers now just need to tidy it up and fix a few of the biggest issues. For me, one of the biggest is definitely the oddities in AI movement that allow them to sometimes move during my turn and also the one that allows them to bypass my guarded outer systems on the starlanes. They are planning to patch once pre-beta to fix those two items I believe. Possibly in a week or two.
LoP is a wild card. I have posted a few questions on their forum, but it seems like days can go by before much gets answered or posted over there. It is kind of a graveyard. As I stated in some other posts, I would like them to get their marketing people to stop showing giving me the bread and circus. I know already, Terraforming looks cool. Now stop hinting around how each race plays differently and features different technology and start showing or explaining to me how that affects the game.
I think they will host some event today and release some screenshots. I’ll be checking that and let you guys now if there are LoP news today.
Noo.. :) Now it seems it’s really 1 month or so for SotS2. But I don’t have an independent source for that nor first hand info. And this may be probably all a marketing strategy to bank on SotS2 sales going on right now. This is pure speculation of mine of course.
Endless Space is a different story. Solid core as you say. But, although the version is technically an alpha because it’s feature incomplete they say to be reaching beta pretty soon, a month from now if I remember correctly. So, yes, the pre-order version looks close to a beta version. But this is just gibberish actually. The game is a gem and I can’t wait to play the beta and the final version when it gets released. Endless Space is the ONE many folks were waiting for. Yes, Armada 2526 is good, yes DW is great but for many, ES is the true 4X, well, because some people see true 4X games as TBS. Surely can’t blame them.
I’ll give it a try as soon as it hits the stores.
Hope it does not require Win7 or something. I still don’t get it why SotS2 needed DX11 … -.-
I can’t find LoP system requirements. But, they have pre-orders going… How can you have pre-orders without publishing system requirements? Strange. But you’re with luck. They seem to support XP. They have Vista | Me | XP in the list of Operating systems: http://www.amazon.com/Legends-Pegasus-Pc/dp/B005FYK35I/ref=lh_ni_t
I think SotS2 requires DX10 (Vista minimum perhaps?) and compliant DX10 video card. SotS2 is a bit tough on the video card, at least it was at release time and still 3 months after, and anti-aliasing was switched-off at the time… :|
I bought Endless space 2 days ago and i had played 170 turns with out any bug the game is very promising and it is in alpha state and i saw that people from amplitude studios are going a very good job with this game i want to have legends of pegasus too because i love this kind of game ….but if the developers need more time for tuning is better because we dont want any other sword of the stars II it was a deception and 4 month and the people from kerberos are patching the game yet this is very frustrating
Yes, completely no rush. Better wait than sorrow. SotS2 made a big blow on the genre but … then you saw a sprout of new games appearing to fill out that void, so, in the end SotS2 initial failure and the strong reaction to that failure proves that the genre is alive and well.
The latest word from Kalypso for the release date reads “Summer 2012”: http://forum.kalypsomedia.com/showthread.php?tid=14921&pid=133104#pid133104
