Digital Reality Games has released a video showing-off Imperium Galactic II gameplay for the iPad. Haa… that was the music, that ambience, and the characteristic simcity-style colony building. This video cheered me up. Good old days. A question to people who has experience playing 4X games on the iPad, and also this game in particular. Is it user-friendly to move around and do stuff? Is it easy to navigate the starmap, build your cities, and maneuver your units during ground combat defense and invasion? Does it feel better than when using the mouse? I ask you this because from the video I couldn’t be left wondering. Boy, do I want to re-play this game. If you’re lucky grab your copy at iTunes. You don’t happen to have a spare iPad, do you? :)

Can this be downloaded (legitimately) for pc?
I’ve contacted them about this a month ago, and this was their response:
“Dear Brent,
Sadly we haven’t got any copy from IG2, there is no longer in stock, and there is no digital download version unfortunately.
Maybe try amazon.com or ebay.com to get one, but you will find retail versions only.
Best Regards,
Digital Reality Support Team”
Thank you Zeraan.
That is a shame. I bet if they got in on GOG it would sell very well.
My thoughts precisely. I’ll give GoG guys a nudge about this, and regarding other games like this as well.
This was exactly what I suggested to the Digital Reality after their response, that they should host their games on gog.com. Maybe they’re looking into it? After all, the iPad proves that they’re working on IG2 in some extent.
I haven’t heard from them after that suggestion, so I hope they do take it in consideration.
Good idea Adam. As the host of this site they will be more likely to listen to you. I would definitely buy it. I used to own it years ago and really liked it.
What a brilliant idea.
I love this game on the PC, way to bring back a classic!
It’s a shame I never got to play this game when it came out, and unfortunately it looks like I still won’t, unless i get an Ipad. I hope they do come out with a downloadable version in the future. Wishful thinking.
Hey, looks like there are some used copies at play.com (thanks a lot Saracen26!): https://www.spacesector.com/blog/2012/04/novus-aeterno-wants-you-a-space-4x-mmo-with-no-end/comment-page-1/#comment-207531
Don’t know if they are compatible with modern Windows systems (Vista/7) though …
