Without more, the teaser trailer (advanced by IGN).
Now, news about the Pre-order. Rebellion was already available for pre-order, but now Stardock and Ironclad Games have announced that owners of the previous expansion: Diplomacy or of the Trinity bundle, may benefit from a reduced pre-order price of $29.99 USD (which is 10$ off regular price). As it seems the discount “will only be available for a limited time”, which indices that Rebellion’s release may not be for so soon. They have also announced that the pre-order can be activated at Steam (although I’m not sure how this works at this moment. Will they email a steam key at release day?).
Stardock also informs that the “price has automatically been adjusted” for people who have already pre-purchased Rebellion, and that you only need to “check your pre-order status on the account page (…) you do not need to re-purchase”.
About the release date, Stardock has not been precise about it (again) and has recently reinforced it as “coming 2012” (in the trailer) or “2012 launch of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion” (in the sins forums). In fact there has been no news whatsoever about the beta, so, everything leads to believe that release will not happen so soon. My best guess is spring 2012.
See some Rebellion’s screenshots here. You also have a review of Sins of Solar Empire: Trinity (the previous installments bundle). Sins Trinity is highly recommended by Space Sector (as you can see by the review score).

Finally, some “insights” about the game. Thank you. But the pre-order can be activated “via” Steam? We’re able to play NOW? I’m confused… Someone is able to clarify the situation?
The “activation on steam” subject :) is being discussed in the forums and in the Sins’ facebook page. After reading both sources I still have my share of doubts too. Robert McQueen asked on fb: “How do we activate the game on steam? will the product code be emailed to us?” There was no answer to this in the comments thread yet, but some people there suggest that “probably” a steam key will be included in the pre-order. Frankly I don’t know. I’ll investigate that and get back to you.
Interesting. Pre-rendered cutscenes. Ironclad is investing more in marketing than I would have expected, especially considering the campaign surrounding their new game.
Well, it’s Ironclad or Stardock, we never know who does what. Campaign, you mean marketing campaign right? You can’t say these things lightly! :)
In fact Stardock confirmed that there won’t be a single player campaign. Although some folks are still speculating about it, now that they saw this trailer.
I’m guessing there won’t be a firm date until after Fallen Enchantress is release. I would suppose Stardock wants each game to have it’s day in the spotlight.
Good point. But … Fallen Enchantress has not a fixed date also right? Only 2012. So, we don’t know what comes out first…
